okay, say there was this band...a really good christian band that you liked a lot and that had lyrics that were pretty much all straight from the bible...well, something happened and the person who wrote the majority of the songs decided he was no longer a christian...actually he became a satanist. now, the lyrics to the songs are still totally bible based and without a doubt speak the truth and could lead people to god...but...all of the royalties from the sale of the cds would go to this guy, who would spend them not only on unchristian things, but most likely on ANTIchristian things.
so...what do you do?

Good question! I think if it benifits him in any way that is unpleasing to God, there is no doubt I wouldn't buy his music anymore. No matter how much I love it. I would pray for him and ask God to show him His love, and to open up his heart. I'll write more later....but I got to go.....

Everytime I spend money, it benefits non-christian and anti-christian activities...Namely, the LDS Church...Most businesses are owned by members of the LDS Church...my landlord is LDS...those people all tithe there money to the LDS Church...
Even if a business owner isn't LDS, he most likely will have LDS employees who tithe to the LDS church...and my money helps pay their paychecks...
Would spending money on a cd by this band be any different? I'm not sure...

this question has come up before in our church, well put it this way, would you stop buying your food from the grocery store, or stop buying petrol(gas) for your car and so on and so on,..........
but, i wouldn't buy a CD who's artist was a christian and isn't anymore , i mean if i knew he was not for God and was for Satan well no i would not buy it.........

Well, Mr. Mouse, i think it's matter of personal choice. If it's going to bother you, then i wouldn't buy it. There will be alot of other people buying their discs, so your'e twenty bucks isn't really doing them alot of good anyway.. i don't know. I mean, the owners of lots of places are probably weird religions, so are you going to stop buying gas for the car, electricity for you house, clothes? it all depends on if it's going to bother you personally.
What band is this anyways?

Dec 19 2002, 07:48 PM
well, for sure I wouldn't buy anything he recorded after he renounced Christ...but what about his older cd's...
Would you also not buy the cd's he recorded as a Christian?

Dec 19 2002, 07:53 PM
oh...the band I am thinking of is called Vengence Rising.
It's not just that it is a weird religion...the money that he is getting is going to pay for, amongst other things, a website that features a lot of "not so dressed" girls and death threats against many Christian people, and it is a small band, so they don't have super high record sales anyway, so one sale does have an impact.

nope, then NO WAY would I pay for something support that! OK, I know a lot of things we don't even think about can support junk like that, but if I am aware of it, then, no I won't waste my $$$ on it.

Nope , i still wouldn't buy his CD, because yeah i know what he is and what he stands for, even if his christians CD's were really good i still wouldn't have anything to do with it, it is like Roberts Liardan his ministry was really good and his books were great, but after what he did and what he is i will no longer read his stuff especially when he thinks that God has no problem with ppl being homosexual

Interesting. I remember something in Romans or Ephesians? It talks about something like eating a certain food sinful once you consider it so.
The Holy Spirit convicts us, so if you feel convicted I would leave it behind. There are so many other bands out there that glorify God - We are so blessed today in this regard!
If I only had Petra and Amy Grant to listen to, I would go crazy! (Not that they don't have some ok songs)

i had a petra tape...my mom bought it for me...it was the first christian music i ever owned...i was all evil at the time
anyway, im sure she just went into the store and asked the old lady that worked there what was something 'hard' and thats what she was given.
this was the same day that i just just bought cds by Ministry and Megadeth so i was less than impressed by them..hehe. there were a couple good songs and a few that sounded like New Kids On the Block

I always thought the New Kids were pretty hard for their time, what with those ripped up jean and all. And a lot of metal bands model the tough-guy image that Wahlberg set.

I used to listen to all the (can I say?) crappy songs by the pop community when I was younger...like 8 and 9. That was before I discovered metal core!

now that's my fav

there is a local group where I live called Scalloped. They are awesome! They just released a small 5 song CD called "Grill embers" it's really cool. They are probably my fav. Have you heard of "Blank city" I like their main singers voice (Arge Mortneson) (sp?) it's got a cool crackly sound. I guess those 2 are my favorites. Not very popular though!
