AAAAH! I just bought Christina's new cd! oh i'm so happy!
this is a side of her, no one has really seen before, and yet, she's still Christina. She has that same gorgeous voice. I love it.
She said on an interview in VH1, "This album is for all the girls out there, who want to be free, who want to be strong, and who want to be independent. I hope you sing along, and take this to heart. This is for all my ladies. Be strong and hang in there, even when the world says you can't do it."
Wreath of Barbs
i got the new living sacrifice cd a while ago....im sure its very similar...hehehe
AlterEgo
I have seen almost every side of her...I hope she sings better than she dresses...or rather doesn't dress...

You should have seen the pic of her in USA Today...no...I take that back...better that you didn't see it... *shudders*

The article was interesting, though, and I'm glad you like the new cd...it does seem like she is trying to be herself more and not just sing what is trendy in order to sell cds...
Dragon Princess
hmm... has either of you noticed that since i was allowed back, you to are the only ones that will answer me?
AlterEgo
hey, don't feel bad...no one answers us much either...

post more and give it time...sometimes people just don't quite know what to say...
djahorne
I dont know anything about Christina!

who is she? what kind of music does she sing?

The reason I have not responded to this post is because I dont know anything about the topic, so I read and learn.

but by asking questions I can learn too

plus I have been a little quite latley too.
AlterEgo
I had noticed that you hadn't been posting much, janice...I was wondering why...is everything ok?

I'll let DP answer your questions about Christina...cause she knows a lot more about her than I do.
djahorne
yeah everything ok. just in a little posting slum. I get this way for about a month and then I start posting again untill the next time.

Ok, I will wait to hear from DP. she can fill me in on her excitment.

You haven't posted that much since you've been back.

Anyways, I do not like Christina Aguilera at all and the image she portrays to younger girls and guys is sickening. Her music video is disgusting and is almost a strip show, hence the cd title.

If you post a topic about chocolate chip cookies... I'll be there. w00t.gif w00t.gif
lizajane
Same here, DP. If I have no interest in a topic, I won't post to it. Simple as that. And I don't expect people to post in a thread I have started if they don't have any interest. It is nothing personal.
Dragon Princess
Christina is like Britney with a stronger voice. smile.gif She's awesome, and i'll go find a picture for you later. I love her new cd. it's beautiful and i really get alot from the songs. So she has a clothing issue. i take people for the WAY they sing. not how they look.

Actually, i think most of everyone is either still mad at me, or a little wary of me, since the incident. that's what i think.

Anyway, awesome song from her new cd:

"Fighter" by Christina
After all you put me through
You'd think I'd despise you
But in the end I want to thankyou
Because you made me that much stronger

When I, thought I knew you
Thinking, that you were true
I guess I, I couldn't trust
Called your bluff, time is up
'Cause I've had enough
You were, there by my side
Always, down for the ride
But your, joy ride just came down in flames
'Cause your greed sold me out of shame, mmhmm

After all of the stealing and cheating
You probably think that I hold resentment for you
But, uh uh, oh no, you're wrong
'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do
I wouldn't know just how capable I am to pull through
So I wanna say thank you

'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Oh, ohh

Never, saw it coming
All of, your backstabbing
Just so, you could cash in
On a good thing before I realized your game
I heard, you're going around
Playing, the victim now
But don't, even begin
Feeling I'm the one to blame
'Cause you dug your own grave, uh huh

After all of the fights and the lies
Yes you wanted to harm me but that won't work anymore
Uh, no more, oh no, it's over
'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture
I wouldn't know how to be this way now, and never back down
So I wanna say thank you

'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
It makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter
themadhotter
Well, I haven't posted here either because I'm not much for the popular singers and all that good stuff. I do kinda tend to judge by clothing - you may think that is hypocritical, but clothing (or lack thereof) does speak for the morals a person holds. Though, I'm only -hearing- about Christina, I don't see many pictures of her. I'm one of those weirdos who /doesn't/ watch VH1 or MTV. I'm such a freak. laugh.gif Oh well, that's just my choice, right?

Anyway, that's an interesting song there, DP. I hope in my lifetime I'll never have to take that as my theme song. wink.gif
Dragon Princess
I like that song. sadly enough, that's already one of my themes. It's my "Anti-Lauren" song. i love it... hehehe

Oh, and just for everyone's information, the title of that cd is NOT about her clothing or lack thereof. She explained it, and she said that it means that this is her being her, not what everyone else wants. this is her "stripped" of all of the crud that people say about her.

Heh... could have fooled me by the cover and her video. nugget.gif

hmm...i never watch mtv [ive only seen mtv2 a few times but at least they play music, unlike eMpTyV.....so anyway, i havent seen the video, but the picture in the newspaper was pretty bad...true you shouldnt really judge a person by their clothing [especially not celebrities that have every outfit picked out for them by other people]....but the fact is that people DO judge you by what and how much you wear...and, yes i know what the title means but when you combine it with the rather revealing pictures, theres definitely a double meaning to the title of the album

i dont really get why when someone decides to 'be real' it involves not wearing very many clothes huh.gif ... but on the other hand i do think some of her lyrics and statements are good, especially considering that she started with that genie in a bottle song....songs about female empowerment is a definite improvement smile.gif

Totaly agree with you, Adam.........her, Britney, Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance & quite a few of the younger pop stars seem to think sex sells & it is so true........Holly Valance is a classic example......her video Kiss Kiss is most probably the worse I've ever seen & I thought Kylie Minogue was bad........

Once upon a time.........a song sold cos it was a great song........not what the singer wore or did not wear.......

rolleyes.gif
Wreath of Barbs
the only thing i know about Kylie is that she did a song with Nick Cave several years ago...it was 'where the wild roses grow' and she sang the part of a murdered girl....i really like that song

....im assuming that one isnt very similar to her own stuff tongue.gif
Dragon Princess
ok, this is not the BASH Christina (or my other fave girls) thread. this is my happy thread. start your own if that's what you want to do. (this is not at WoB)

WoB~ The female empowerment song is "Can't hold us down" w/ Lil Kim. (Lil Kim isn't even evil in thsi song!!) that is like one of the best song on the whole cd. i was singing that all day yesterday.
I don't like Kylie to well, but it's because her voice is whiny.

Another Awesome song, (that SHE wrote)
"Beautiful" by Christina
Everyday is so wonderful, then suddenly, it's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure, from all the pain
I'm so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beatiful in every single way
Yes words can't bring me down
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Trying hard to fill the emptiness, the pieces gone,
Left the puzzle undone, is that the way it is

You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
Cause you are beatiful in every single way
Yes words can't bring you down
So don't you bring me down today

No matter what we do
No matter what we say
We're the song inside the tune, full of beatiful mistakes
And everywhere we go, the sun will always shine
And tomorrow we might awake on the other side

'Cause we are beautiful no matter what they say
Yes words won't bring us down, no
We are beatiful in every single way
Yes words can't bring us down
So don't you bring me down today
AlterEgo
well, you asked people to respond...those are their opinions....

I tend to agree with some of what has been said...yes she said what she meant by stripped but she is also taking advantage of the other possible meaning...not everyone who sees her videos will read interviews, so they will take it at face value and just assume it means the obvious...it is most likely a marketing ploy aimed at guys...

Sometimes, I like someones music, but won't buy their stuff because I can't support them...an example...I really like the new eminem song...the one from the soundtrack of his movie...but I so dislike everything he stands for that I won't spend money on his cd's, or his movie...

On the other hand, sometimes I can overlook stuff and just focus on the music...like with System of a Down...they are pantheistic in their theology...but they are not overtly anti-christian, or immoral, so I can appreciate their music and ignore the other stuff...

Everyone has to decide for themselves...pray about it...decide where God is leading you...if clothing isn't a big issue to you, then fine...don't let others get to you...listen, consider, but don't take it personal if someone feels differently...
Wreath of Barbs
i think for me it also depends on the bands intent....so they may APPEAR all evil and stuff, but in reality its just an act...like a horror movie or whatever...i have a few cds like that...some are more artistic [Tartaros - The Red Jewel] while others are just so silly and over the top they HAVE to be a joke [Electric Hellfire Club - umm...pretty much everything they have ever done tongue.gif]
Dragon Princess
Ok, whatever. I'm still happy, and i still love that cd. everybody's gotta find something to complain about...
Wreath of Barbs
well...I don't know...is giving opinions the same as complaining...I don't know...

anyhow...I'm glad you are enjoying it. smile.gif
Dragon Princess
No, an opinion is different. But it just seems that if i like something, the "opinions" are all negative. Sorry, i'm not very happy with this p lace now. (not you WoB)
themadhotter
Huh, well, I'm sorry if you got that impression from me, DP, I never meant for my opinion to sound as if I was bashing you and your tastes! I have a load of friends who enjoy artists that I don't like, but I try not to be critical of what they enjoy, since most of them think I'm a complete and utter loser for listening to oldies. laugh.gif
Dragon Princess
themadhotter~ oh, no no. not you. See, there was a big controversy over me a while back. I was punished because i got angry at this guy here, and i was banned and got my mod privliges taken away. I was SO mad. So now, after the big admin finally let me come back, people are still treating my like i have the plague. And it wasn't even my fault. i still feel as if i was treated very very unfairly, and it still hasn't been put to right. So, see, it's not about you. you weren't even here when this happened.
themadhotter
Well, hey, as long as you don't think I'm a total snob or anything, I guess all is okay. wink.gif I guess a few trusts have been broken, but you're right, I wasn't around then.. and anyway, I try to never hold grudges, they take too much effort to maintain and aren't ever worth the time. laugh.gif
Sparky
DP....u r so wrong..........try & see our posts as something we r adding to........I wasn't criticising u or yr tastes........I AM critical at how some of these pop singers show themselves to the world.........
tash
Yes , ppl look up to these singer's/bands/groups.....and they do put a message across by what they wear and how they act and stuff.....i am not putting down your music tastes DP, everyone has a right to listen to whatever, i just don't agree with how alot of these singer's portray themselves, tis sad really
Wreath of Barbs
we got the Nirvana selftitled collection this weekend...yay smile.gif

DP,

You need to go forward in life and stop looking at the past. What happened earlier on has no impact on what I wrote in your topic. I've never liked Christina A. or the way that she dresses and if anyone else had posted what you posted then my response would have been the exact same. Also, I wasn't going to post in this topic (because I don't care for Christina A.), but because you were saying that everbody is ignoring you, I did. You can't take everything personal on here and get mad at everyone when something happens, especially on the internet. It's not worth the hassle.

Maybe you posted an artist that a lot of people here don't particulary enjoy, especially her latest release. On the other hand, if you went to a Christina A. fan forum then you would get the whole board agreeing with you. It doesn't mean that we all hate her music, but probably some people on this board haven't even seen this topic yet.

Also, it seems that you are unfairly treating us, not the other way. You asked for opinions and you got some... we just happened to not enjoy her music as much as you do and so we posted that. However, even though WOB and AE (no offense WOB and AE) didn't exactly say they liked Christina that much either you never thought they were trying to be hateful towards you or whatever. Just a thought.
Dragon Princess
This is NOT about Christina......
oh i give up. i swear i quit.
Nobody believes me, and nobody cares anyway. and i know there's going to be nothing done to fix it.
AlterEgo
Adam...I think that may have been because we tried to say something positive as well...kind of temper out responses a bit...

But I would say that you are right about letting go of the past...

DP, you need to forgive the people who hurt you...or you won't be able to get past this...and forgiving means you don't hold what they did against them...

I have done things that have hurt people...and I have needed forgiveness...we all have...I know it can be difficult, but it sure does feel better when you do forgive people...

It takes time to rebuild trust and stuff, but that can't even begin until you forgive.
djahorne
I love country music. But I dont thing anyone else here likes it much.

I dont know anything about Christina, so I have not stated much.

But when you asked for a reply I replied, but since I dont know anything about her then there was not much for me to say.

now if you want to talk about contimperary christian music or country then I will have alot to say.
AlterEgo
Yep...I hate country music!!!!

It's all about cheating and drinking and trucks wink.gif tongue.gif

And besides...it makes me cry. sad.gif :'( sad.gif

Really, Janice, you should listen to some good hardcore punk....
sherdu
I'm with you Janice I love country music
I love that one by Diamond Rio (I think)
What A Beautiful Mess I'm In!

Who is your fav singer?
Wreath of Barbs
i post about bands sometimes...very rarely does anyone say anything about them...and it does suck, especially if its something that you really really like [like when i posted about Living Sacrifice and ZAO]...the only person here who has even remotely similar musical taste is Alter Ego and its not like i need to talk to her about it on the board, i just play the cd for her tongue.gif

you did get quite a few responses about the book you posted about, so thats good, right?
djahorne
randy travis
alen jackson

ahhhh come on ae lets have some foot stopping fun here biggrin.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I really like that new song Alan Jackson did about sept 11th, they play it heaps on our christian radio station Rhema FM 106.5.....

Where were you when the world stopped turning

Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day
Were you in the yard with your wife and children
Or working on some stage in L.A.
Did you stand there in shock at the sight of that black smoke
Rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger, in fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below
Did you burst out with pride for the red, white and blue
And the heroes who died just doin' what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself and what really matters

Chorus:

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I could
Tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest is love

Verse:

Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Or driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty 'cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you loved her
Did you dust off that Bible at home

Did you open your eyes, hope it never happened
And you close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Or speak to some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watchin'
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns

Did you go to a church and hold hands with some strangers
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

Chorus:

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I could
Tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things He gave us
And the greatest is love
And the greatest is love
And the greatest is love
Where were you when the world stop turning on that September day

Sotty WOB, but a lot of the bands you post about I've never heard of before so that's why I don't feel that I can respond to your posts. I don't know much about Christina A either which is why I haven't said anything about her either.

But Third Day rock!!!! wink.gif
themadhotter
Third Day rocks my world! laugh.gif Mac Powell has the greatest voice! And they write such powerful lyrics, as well as having great music. But my friend Meg says they're country, which I refuse to believe wink.gif
Sparky
If Third Day were country I would NOT listen to them. They're southern rock through & through.......which I guess is why she may think they're country!!!

ahhhh!!!! did you see the cover of Rolling Stone (i think that was it) with her on it, why not just pose for Play Boy????? And her new video, I haven't seen it thankfully, but I hear its pretty nasty. Is that the kind of image we want to be sending to the youth of today? That women are objects????? Good singer or not, I can't support anything she does. I would suggest finding a singer that doesn't send mixed messages.
Wreath of Barbs
i saw a rolling stone cover a few days ago [i dont know if it was the new one or not]...but it was 'women in rock' and she was on the cover with some other people....but they were all POP singers...oi!

oh...'cept for Avril...shes 'punk' now...heheheheheh
themadhotter
My cousin's really into Avril... she has one of those shirts, with the ties, like Avril does. I haven't seen her wear it, but I thought it was...

...interesting. laugh.gif
Wreath of Barbs
shes hardcore punk...its true...you cant be punk without a tie wink.gif
laura_lynn
OOOOOOOOOh no no, Avril Levigne is not hardcore punk.
Maybe you were being sarcastic, WOB, but, no no. She's just another corporate Britney Spears. (my opinion)
'dude, let's crash the mall!' ugh.
Wreath of Barbs
i know...i was being sarcastic...i had just read an article about her punk image being totally constructed....originally she was supposed to be 'new country'

so there you go...she went from pop/country to punk without changing music
