Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5

What blessed truths we learn from David's experiences with God as they are shared with us in the Psalms! The world was full of tears in his day as it is in ours. The Psalmist had been going through a serious time of testing. Friends had deserted him; difficulties were pressing around him. Although, in David's experience, weeping had endured for a night, in the midnight of his life he possessed the complete assurance that "joy comes in the morning." God was very real and very personal to him. He knew he could trust God in the dark places, knowing that they had a purpose in his life. David learned that God uses the tears of the night to prepare for the joy of the morning.

Are you in the night of weeping, pain, disappointment, trials or burdens? God has assured us of the dawn of a new day. In the night of trial, be patient. In the midnight of life, God gives the assurance that "joy comes in the morning."

There are lessons that only tears can teach us. They give clearer vision. They cleanse our eyes so that we can see our Savior more clearly. Out of weeping comes joy -- not the kind of joy the world knows, but the joy that comes from the assurance of God's presence. "God gives....the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness" (Isaiah 61:3). The tears of today turn to the songs of tomorrow.

As one who has gone through trials, it is true that "joy comes in the morning." Keep trusting in the Lord no matter what happens. He will bring you through it. And, afterwards, you will know that God was with you, He is with you, and He will be with you in the future, too. The real joy is knowing God's presence is with you, no matter what.

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say on the Lord!
Psalm 27:14

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Psalm 9:9-10
