Walk in the light God gives

Act faithfully according to your degree of light, and what God gives you to see; and you shall see more clearly. Hearken to the low whispers of His voice within you, and you shall hear more distinctly. Above all, do not stifle any motions of conscience. Meditate daily on the things of eternity; and, by the Grace of God, do something daily which you would wish to have done when that day comes. Above all things, in all things, "look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith." If you fail, look to Him to uphold you, if you stumble, hold swift His hand to help you; if you fall, lie not hopelessly there, but look to Him to raise you; if, by His grace, you do well, look to Him in thanksgiving, that He has helped you, and pray that you may do better. by Edward B. The above devotional makes a very good point. As we walk daily in the things that God has given us or revealed to us, we will progress in our Christian lives. If we fuss or fight against things that God has shown us, we will progress no further.....in fact, we probably will go backward. So let's "walk in the light as He is in the light" and our Christian lives will be peaceful and fruitful.
If we have already fallen in some way, fellowship with God can be restored simply by confessing our sins. Isn't this a wonderful way to live? Fellowship with God and His people.

Read: Ephesians 5:1-21
"...Therefore be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their fathers]..."
I guess this verse sums it up. We need to be imitators of God. Our hearts desire should be that of becoming Christ-like in every area of our lives. God isn't interested in just a little bit of us. He doesn't want to be put in a box labelled 'Religion' and left on the side - only to be opened up now and then when we need Him. He wants to be involved in every area of our lives. Even the little things about our lives He is interested in.
Our mindset should change to wanting our lives to be in line with God's ways. I know we can't change over night. Some things drop away more easily than other things. And often when we breakthrough in one area, we discover something else to put right. I often liken this to an onion. You peel back one layer only to find another layer underneath. God puts His finger on different areas where we need to change. But thankfully we don't have to do this on our own. God works in us - and with us, to bring about that change.
But despite all of that, we need to have a desire to walk in God's ways - rather than the world's ways. A lot of these things mentioned in verses 3-5 seem to be commonplace in today's society. No one seems to be concerned, and it's almost like if you don't live this way; you’re out-of-date, old fashioned. But God doesn't think so. His ways do not change to fit into the times we live - neither should we. Our lives need to reflect our faith.
V: 15 says, "Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people)". We really need to examine our walk! When we live our lives in the light of God's word - we can't go wrong.

Thy word is Thy lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
