in all things it is
better to hope
than to despair.
When we return to
real trust in God,
there will no
longer be room
in our soul for

Once upon a golden hour
I cast to earth a seed
Up sprang a flower
the people said,
Sir Alfred Lord Tennyson
This is my special poem - orphanages, foster homes, bruised and mistreated, I was eventually adopted at 2yrs.
My poor mom I do not remember, but there was not an entitlement system at that time in Britain.
The social serves were as brutal as their foster homes.
God has a special thought towards the fatherless I believe.
P.s. Not complaining - It is what it is. Just really amazing how God has kept me all these years!!

You are right, God especially loves the widows and the fatherless. Here's one verse we can all hold on to:
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me.
My aunt Pam in Pennsylvania is a senior citizen and she takes care of foster children. She is a Christian, takes them to church and they all love her. One little girl, maybe 6 or 7 yrs old, begged my aunt to adopt her. My aunt being a senior wasn't sure but she finally did adopt Ari.
It would be wonderful if more loving Christians would consider fostering or adopting children.

My Fav is: How Great the Father's Love for me. (Stuart Townend )
Written by William Booth I believe, the founder of The Salvation Army.

Although a more modern song, I really love one called "Somewhere It's Snowing.". The words are really meaningful and the melody is very pretty. It's about Jesus' blood covering someone's sins somewhere.
I use a tablet now so don't know how to post a link for it, but it's on YouTube. A young man with a guitar does a lovely version...also with snow scenes! Check it out...if someone has time, maybe post the link for it?

At a church thrift shop I found a couple of old hymnals. Gave one as a gift. Then a church I was attending was getting new hymnals so I got one of the old ones for a small donation. In the back of that hymnal there are alot of beautiful devotional aids... various old prayers and Scripture readings.

Before their worship (song) leader left, he always included one or two old hymns which I appreciated. He left as he was studying to become a pastor and he got a job as an intern pastor elsewhere. Also before the songs, he would always say something that a pastor might say. I think he had a real calling as a pastor...he added alot to the service.
