Hi Lucian, nice to meet you! I was born here in the USA as were my parents, but our ancestry is Eastern European!

Please tell us something about your Orthodox faith? Is it more about rituals rather than a personal walk or relationship with Christ?

I believe one of our moderators, Lilacday, used to be Orthodox.

It is not necessarily about rituals. Us Orthodox are similar to Catholics, but we reject the authority of The Pope. Our highest-ranking bishops are called patriarchs. We believe in the intercession of the saints, which many Protestants consider heresy. Also, in our prayer life, we tend to focus more on The Trinity than on Jesus alone.

Correct, we do not believe in praying to saints as Jesus told us to pray to the Father in His name.

Although we often mention Jesus, we do believe in the Father and the Holy Spirit, that they are equal in the Godhead.

I think the reason we speak of Christ is that He is the way to salvation. He is the gate or door. Once we receive salvation through Him, we come to know the Father and the Holy Spirit.

In my personal experience, after receiving Christ as my Savior, the Holy Spirit became so real to me. After that, then our heavenly Father became precious to me. It's as if we sometimes get to know each member of the Godhead in a special way at a certain time in our lives.

Hi Lucian,

Pleased to meet you & welcome. That is very interesting about you desiring to be a writer and an artist. Great gifts from God. Can you please link us to one of your videos on utube so we can see what you do. It amazes me that your generation is so quick to use their gifts and the technology available. Good on you.

regards, Marilyn.

Jesus therefore said to those Judeans who had believed him, "If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free?'"

Jesus answered them, "Truly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin. A bondservant does not live in the house forever. A son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:31-36 (New Heart English Bible)

It Is No Heresy

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:25-27 (New International Version)

To Worship The Man

And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God. Galatians 4:6-7 (Berean Study Bible)

Who Lives To Intercede For You

The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently.

Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:23-25 (New American Standard Bible)

As I See It

For the Messiah did not enter a sanctuary made with hands (only a model of the true one) but into heaven itself, so that He might now appear in the presence of God for us. Hebrews 9:24 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27 (King James Bible)

Love, Your Brother Joe

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalms 119:160 (King James Bible)

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully.  It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

Hi Lucian and OHM and Marilyn, and everyone!!

As already mentioned by Debp, I grew up in an Orthodox faith background, as I came to a point in my life that I wanted to know why there were so many denominations and as I was reading the bible, God led me to the scripture. John 14.23 If anyone loves ME, they will obey me/follow/keep my word.......this gave me understanding that Jesus is above any denomination that He is a Person and we are to follow HIm and not a particular denomination, although we may all attend a certain denominational church and also i understood that just because we attend church as I did (from time to time), it did not necessarily mean you were saved,

I always believed in the Trinity and that Jesus was God, but the Holy Spirit makes it real, (it has to be revelation, just like when Jesus said to Peter,

Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.Matt 16.17

Also even while attending Orthodox church, I can never remember a time when i prayed to the saints.  They were godly men and women who God used but we too can come to God through Jesus Christ the same way they did.  The same relationship they had with God is open to everyone, God invites us.......It is Christ who shows us who the Father is and what He is like.(Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.john 14.6)and also(It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father cometo Me.

John 6:65And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”
